A quick guide for getting started to purchase the clinical information system. This online booklet discusses system evaluation in the planning stage and describes the basic points of preparing the analysis needed in purchasing a clinical information system (CIS). This 8 page booklet from a vendor says the life span of an information system is 7 to 10 years, but I think you will find that a more accurate estimate is 3 to 5 years. Still a helpful booklet for what should be considered in purchasing a system.
