Slide Transitions

Last Updated: June 19, 2003

The default transition between slides is to just replace the old one with the next one. This is probably the least intrusive, and for most transitions, probably the best. There will be times, however, when your message warrants a special effect. To change the way the next slide appears:

  1. Make the slide you wish to appear in a unique way the active slide
  2. Click on Slide Show>Slide Transition
  3. If using 97 or 2000 a dialog box will appear, if in XP (2002) a column will be visible on the right side of the screen.
  4. Choose the transition you wish, Be sure to check out the ways that it can be modified if using XP.
  5. Play your slide show to check the effect of the transition on the whole presentation.

A plain transition is better than one that diverts the attention of the audience from your message.
