Confusion can result when working with a word processor if one does not interpret words in the same way that the word processor does. Because of the way it operates, a word processor is more liberal in what it includes in its meanings than humans.

Definitions As Interpreted by Word Processors
Character	Any character you can enter from the keyboard. Includes spaces, and symbols such as #, $ etc.
Word	Any characters between two spaces.
Paragraph	Anything between two hard returns, whether a character, a space or blank.
Cut	To remove an item from where it is and place on the clipboard.
