Using Paint
Paint is a very useful Windows Accessory for creating and using graphics. This page will only discuss using it to either cut out a part of a picture for use or resizing a picture. Both these features will make a picture smaller in file size.
To open Paint, click on Start>All Programs>Accessories>Paint
Cut out a part of the picture for use.
- Select the tool that looks like a dotted box for pulling out a square, or the star (XP) or other dotted tool (Vista).
- Use it to draw around the part of the picture that you want.
- Copy it (Ctrl+C)
- Save the original if you want it,
- Click on New
- Paste into the new window (Ctrl+V)
Resizing the entire picture
- Select the image.
- On the menu line click Image>Resize
- Enter the proportions you wish to use. If you wish to have the picture retain the same proportions as the original enter the same percent in both horizontal and vertical.
