Using the feature
For bullets, each time you tap the Enter key another bullet will appear.
For the numbering feature, a new number will appear following the selected style. Tap the tab key to go to a lower level, and shift-tab to go up a level.
If you wish to add text after a number, just back space to erase the number or bullet. After typing the body text, when you again want a number or bullet, after tapping the Enter key, tap Ctrl+H. Numbering will again take up at that level.
One of the best features of Word Perfect's outline feature is the ability to look at just the headings without the body text. To do this, the outline toolbar must be visible. Place your insertion point on an outline (or bullet) point to see it.

Click the icon you see in the blue box, show/hide body text. If you only want to see one or two levels, drop down the arrow by the blue icon. The show/hide body text icon is a toggle key, click again to see the body text.
To create just an outline view of your text, after hiding the body text, and selecting the level of headings that you wish, copy this by selecting it, and placing it in a new document. With these headings safely in a new document, replace the hidden text with nothing by:
- Tapping Ctrl+F
- Clicking on the Match tab.
- Type h when the new window appears, scroll to Hidden Text, click Insert and Close.
- Be sure that nothing is in the replace box (except maybe <Nothing>) and click Replace All.
