Creating and Using Headers/Footers
Headers are text that appear automatically on the top of each page of a document while a footer is automatically placed at the bottom of each page. Folks not in the know may do this manually, which is a lot of work, and precludes any future editing.

- On the menu line click View>Header and Footer
- The default is to create a header. If you wish to create a footer instead, click on the icon in red in the figure.
- In the header box you can have text that is left justified, centered, and right justified all on the same line. When you open the header/footer option, your text is automatically left justified. To center text, tap the Tab key once, to right justify the text tab the Tab key again.

For a header or footer that only has either a page number, or only text, click the Insert tab on the ribbon, and select either header or footer or page number.
