PDF Files

A Portable Document Format (PDF) file is a Web file format created by Adobe Systems. It was developed to allow formatted documents to be accessible on the Web. These files will appear on the screen and print exactly as formatted including columns and images. Unfortunately, they are often difficult to read on a screen necessitating printing. Some created with newer versions of Adobe Acrobat will allow hyperlinks, but most documents created this way do not have links either internally or externally.

Some of the Web sites listed on these pages have files in a PDF File format. To view a file in PDF format you need to have the free Adobe Acrobat Reader that is distributed by Adobe Systems. Most computers from the last few years come with this installed. Clicking on the Acrobat Reader icon below will take you to a site where you can download this free plug-in. Once downloaded The reader will take care of installing itself. It also automatically pops up whenever you download a PDF file.
