Downloading WWW Documents

(Most of the files that are downloaded from the Web are in HTML format thus
once downloaded you )
Downloading a Text File From the Web
- Have the window with the file you wish to use as the active window.
- Click on "File/Save As"
- Note the name of the folder where the document is going and the name of
the file. The folder will be listed next to "save in" and the name will be
at the bottom of that pop up window. You may want to write this down.
- Click on Save

Downloading an Image
- Place your mouse pointer on the image you wish to download.
- Right click.
- Click on Save Image As... or Save Picture As...
- Note the name of the folder where the document is going and the name of
the file. The folder will be listed next to "save in" and the name will be
at the bottom of that pop up window. You may want to write this down.
- Click on Save

Opening a Text File Downloaded From the Web
- Open your Browser
- Click on File/Open (Page)
- Enter the name of the folder and file, or click on Browse and locate the
file.
- Click on Open
- Click on Open or "OK" depending on your browser.
- If you downloaded a document you will only have the text. Each illustration
is a separate file. Trying to download the images to see them in the document
requires that you know how to change the links.
- If you can't find the file, use the find file option. (Windows
95 & 98)

Opening an Image File Downloaded from the Web
This can be opened in your browser following the instructions to open
a text file. Or it may be opened in a Presentation Program. To use the file
in a presentation:
- Open the presentation program
- Select the slide layout you want to use (If the image is large, you may
wish to select a blank slide.
- Click on Insert>Picture>From File
- Browse the folders to find the file and click Insert
. (If using images be sure that you are not violating copyright.)
